JONESBOROUGH, TENN. -- Furman senior Ross Funderburke (-4) tied for 15th to lead the Paladins Tuesday in the final round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, while was hosted by East Tennessee State, at the par 72, 7,147 yard Blackthorn Club in Jonesborough, Tenn.
Funderburke, who hails from Roanoke, Va., eagled the par-5 No. 4 and followed it up with a birdie on No. 5 to turn at 2-under. He added birdies on No. 11 and No. 16 for a 1-under 71 on Tuesday. Â
Kieron van Wyk (-13) of College of Charleston and Missouri's Jack Lundin (-13) tied for the individual title with three-round totals of 203.
Senior Sam Lape (-1)Â carded a 74 with birdies on three of four holes from No. 13 through No. 16 on Tuesday to tie for 23rd, and sophomore Will Morlan (E) shot a 75 with birdies on No. 4 and No. 10, tying for 29th.Â
Senior Walker Crosby (+3) tied for 44th after shooting a 74 with three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 4 and No. 5, while junior Mac Scott (+5) fired a 71 with an eagle on the par-5 No. 10 and three birdies to tie for 50th. Â
Senior Reynolds Lambert (+1), who competed as an individual, tallied an 83 to tie for 74th.
Cincinnati (-30) won by four strokes over Missouri (-26) after setting a final-round record with a 15-under-par 273. Host ETSU (-20) finished third, followed by Florida Gulf Coast (-10) in fourth. The Paladins (-6) took sixth place, ahead of Charlotte (-1), College of Charleston (E), Middle Tennessee State (+1), Kent State (+1), Coastal Carolina (+16) and Virginia Tech (+16), among others.
Furman finished third with a 4.03 scoring average on the par 4s and tied for second with three eagles over the 54-hole tournament.
The Paladins will entertain 14 teams at the Furman Intercollegiate, Oct. 22-23, in Greenville, S.C.
