Furman's Morgan Tied For 14th At Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Senior Anna Morgan (E) is tied for 14th to pace Furman at the end of Monday's play at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite at the par 72, 6203 yard Governor's Club in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Second-round play was delayed due to lightning, then it was too dark to conclude the round following the delay.  Teams will conclude round two beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday and will immediately begin round three following the completion of the second round.  Teams will remain in the same pairings for the final round.  Furman will tee off on No. 10 through No. 14 Tuesday and will play in foursomes with Virginia Tech, Louisville, and Princeton.  

Morgan, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., fired a 70 with a team-high five birdies in round one then added a 74 with birdies on No. 3 and No. 13 in round two.  Morgan is six strokes behind leaders Phoebe Brinker (-6) of Duke and Laney Frye (-6) of Kentucky who lead the field by one stroke.  Brinker has one hole left in the second round, while Frye has three holes remaining.

Junior Caroline Crumrine (+3) is tied for 28th after two rounds.  She posted a 74 with four birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 6 and No. 7, in round one then led Furman and tied her career low with a 73 with birdies on No. 9 and No. 17 in the day's second round.

Senior Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (+8) and freshmen Liza Lapeyre (+8) and Chloe Johnson (+8) are all tied for 53rd at the end of Monday's play.  Rhéaume shot a 78 with birdies on No. 3 and No. 16 in round one and recorded a 74 with three birdies in round two, while Lapeyre scored a 74 in round one and 78 in round two.  Johnson carded a 77 with birdies on No. 1 and No. 10 in the day's opening round then posted a 75 with three birdies in the second round.

No. 39 Kentucky (-4) holds a two-stroke lead over top-ranked Wake Forest (-2).  Host North Carolina (+1), which ranks 50th, is third, followed by Louisville (+5) in fourth.  The Paladins (+15) are in 12th place in the field, which includes 10 Power 5 teams.
