GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Senior Anna Morgan (+6) tied for 24th to lead Furman Tuesday at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite at the par 72, 6203 yard Governor's Club in Chapel Hill, N.C.
A native of Spartanburg, S.C., Morgan, who ranks 48th nationally, carded a 78 with a birdie on No. 9 in the final round. Senior Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (+11), who ranks 34th, led the Paladins with a 75 on Tuesday. She birdied No. 3 and No. 14 to tie for 43rd, while freshman Liza Lapeyre (+12) posted a team-high three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 2 and No. 3, to finish the day with a 76 and tie for 48th.
Junior Caroline Crumrine (+14) and freshman Chloe Johnson (+14) tied for 56th. Johnson posted a 78 with a birdie on No. 4 in the final round, while Crumrine added an 83 with a birdie on No. 9.Â
Jensen Castle (-7) of Kentucky, who ranks 96th, won the tournament in a playoff over Phoebe Brinker (-7) of Duke. The duo each posted a three-round total of 209.
No. 39 Kentucky (-4) won the tournament by five strokes over top-ranked Wake Forest (+1). Host North Carolina (+13), which ranks 50th, finished third, followed by 43rd-ranked Tennessee (+18) in fourth. The Paladins (+34) tied for 12th place in the field, which included 10 Power 5 teams.
Furman will conclude the 2022 fall season Oct. 28-30 at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
