Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team collected four wins over the weekend as the Paladins competed at the ITA Carolina Regional from Cary Tennis Park in Durham, N.C.
On Friday, Furman sophomore
Elijah Poritzky and freshman
Thomas Kennedy both recorded a win in singles competition. Poritzky got started by winning his match in the main singles draw defeating Benjamin Niv of South Carolina State 4-6, 7-6, 6-3. Kennedy followed in the consolation bracket with a 6-4, 5-7 (11-9) triumph against South Carolina State's Aissa Benchakroun.
The next day saw the Paladins register a pair of victories in the doubles portion of the regional. The duos of Kennedy/sophomore
Cole Burnam and Poritzky/freshman
Jerry Barton both tallied wins in the main doubles draw. Kennedy/Burnam picked up a 6-2, 4-6 (10-8) win over Jacco Arends and Camilo Cano of UNCW, while Poritzky/Barton earned a straight-set victory against College of Charleston's Johnny Wang and Juan Diego Rojas 6-0, 6-2.
Furman concludes its fall schedule next weekend, November 4-6, participating at the Southern Conference Fall Championship in Belton, S.C.
