GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Okay, we'll understand if even the staunchest Furman football fans can't commit every statistic to memory, but here's a list of notes and superlatives that might interest Paladin fans and others.
FURMAN PALADIN POINTERS (11/13/2022)
Furman's 23-13 win over Mercer was the Paladins' fifth straight road victory — the program's longest since the 1989 (4 wins) and 1990 seasons (1 win).
Furman's 23-13 win over Mercer marked the Paladins' SoCon-best third triumph over a ranked foe in 2022: vs. ETSU (18th/27-14); vs. Chattanooga (6th/24-20); vs. Mercer (11th/23-13).
Furman is now 5-2 versus its last seven FCS ranked opponents (2021-present).
Furman is 10-2 in its last 12 games. One of its two losses was a 35-12 setback at then FBS 5th-ranked Clemson (Sept. 10), which the Paladins out-gained in total offense, 384-376.
Furman is now 8-1 in its last nine SoCon games.
Furman's eight wins this season matches season highs under head coach
Clay Hendrix registered in both 2017 and 2019. Â The last time the Paladins won nine games in a season was 2005 (11-3), when Hendrix was a Furman assistant coach.
The last time Furman won seven Southern Conference games in a season was 2001, when the Paladins went 12-3 overall and 7-1 in league play en route to a FCS national runner-up finish.
Furman matched a season high with five sacks versus Mercer, doubling the SoCon-best (low) five sacks the Bears had allowed entering the game.
Furman limited Mercer to only 53 yards rushing on 29 carries (1.8 ypc) after the Bears entered the contest averaging  203.9 ypg (5.3 ypc).
Furman surrendered only 13 points and 316 total yards to Mercer, which entered the game averaging a SoCon leading 40.3 ppg, as well as 463.0 ypg.
Furman allowed Mercer only 5-of-16 conversions (31.2%) on third down after the Bears came into the contest as the SoCon leader in the category (51.8%).
The Paladins totaled 460 yards in offense versus Mercer's defense that entered the contest as the SoCon leader in total defense (291.8 ypg).
The Paladins rushed for 167 yards (4.6 ypc) against Mercer, which entered the game surrendering only 109.7 ypg (3.3 ypc).
Furman passed for 293 yards in the win over Mercer, which entered the contest yielding 182.1 ypc passing.
Furman recorded its seventh blocked kick (4 FGs, 2 PATs, 1 punt) of the season against Mercer when junior defensive end
Jack Barton stepped in front of 30-yard attempt on the final play of the first half. Â It was Barton's third blocked field goal this year.
Furman's seven blocked kicks ranks second in the FCS.

Furman ranks sixth in the FCS in turnovers gained (21) and is eighth nationally in interceptions (14).
Furman has 41 breakups (4.1/game) this season — its most since 2005 when the Paladins had 50 over 14 games (3.6/game).
Furman has surrendered points in only three fourth quarters this year (33 total), spanning 10 games.

Ian Williams converted all three field goal attempts (44, 36, 36) in the victory over Mercer and has now made 9-of-11 field goals this fall, including 5-of-5 from 40-49 yards.
Graduate transfer quarterback
Tyler Huff accounted for 369 of Furman's 460 yards in total offense in the win over Mercer, passing for 293 yards and a touchdown while also rushing 10 times for 76 yards and a score.
In his last two games (wins over Chattanooga and Mercer)
Tyler Huff has accounted for 83 percent of Furman's offense, passing for 496 yards and rushing for 208 yards in the two victories.
Tyler Huff has tallied 1,026 yards in total offense and eight touchdown responsibilities over the last four games (4-0). Â He's completed 60-of-91 passes (1 INT) for 757 yards and six TDs (155.4 efficiency rating) while also rushing for 269 yards (3.3 ypc) and two TDs in that stretch.
With four receptions for 42 yards against Mercer, All-America tight end
Ryan Miller became only the sixth player in Furman history to top 2,000 receiving yards. Â He ranks sixth in both that category and in career receptions (136).
Ryan Miller has 12 touchdown catches in his last 13 games and 25 in his career, just one shy of the current school standard held by Chas Fox (1982-85).
Redshirt junior running back
Dominic Roberto surpassed Brothel Cole (1978-81) into 16th placed on Furman's career rushing yards ledger with his 17-carry, 69-yard performance against Mercer. Â He has rushed for 1,874 yards and 18 touchdowns in his Paladin career.

Dominic Roberto has rushed for 1,392 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging 6.7 ypc and 107.0 ypg over that span.
Sophomore wide receiver
Joshua Harris' 146 receiving yards (5 rec.) against Mercer marked a new a career high, as did his 56-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter.
Redshirt junior free safety
Hugh Ryan has been named SoCon Defensive Player of the Week twice this year (vs. ETSU & Chattanooga). Â His season includes a streak of three consecutive games (3-0) with an interception (vs. Western Carolina, VMI, and Chattanooga). Â He has eight career interceptions.
