LAS VEGAS, NEV. -- Junior Anna Morgan (+1) tied for fifth to lead the Furman women's golf team to a fourth-place finish Tuesday in the final round of The Show at Spanish Trail, which was co-hosted by the Paladins and UNLV at the par 72, 6,372 yard Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Morgan, who hails from Spartanburg, S.C., carded a 74 with a team-high three birdies on Tuesday, finishing five strokes back of Nevada's Leah John, won the tournament by two strokes with a three-round total of 69-66-77=212.
Sophomore Sophia Burnett (+6) surged into a tie for 17th with a third-round 75. She tallied birdies on No. 11 and No. 14. Senior Kyra Cox (+8) recorded a 77 with birdies on No. 9 and No. 11, tying for 28th, while senior Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (+9) finished in a tie for 32nd after adding a 79 with birdies on No. 11 and No. 18. Â
Freshman Savannah Hylton (+22) recorded an 83 with birdies on No. 3 and No. 11, tying for 74th. Sophomore Caroline Crumrine (+27), who played as an individual, tied for 82nd after tallying an 82 in the final round.
No. 44 UNLV (-4) won the tournament by 13 strokes over Nevada (+9). Augusta (+17) placed third, followed by the 43rd-ranked Paladins (+24) in fourth. No. 42 Washington (+25) rounded out the top five.Â
Furman will compete at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate Feb. 28-March 2 in Hilton Head, S.C.
