Augusta, Ga. – Junior
Ross Funderburke carded rounds of 69 and 70 on Saturday to pace the Furman men's golf team after the first day of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational from the par 72, 7,086-yard Forest Hills Golf Club.
Funderburke, a native of Roanoke, Va., is currently in a tie for 11
th place to lead the Paladins at 5-under par 139. He recorded four birdies in his opening round, shooting a 3-under 69, and added 13 pars. In round two, Funderburke finished at 1-under through the front nine and birdied two of his final four holes on the back nine to shoot 2-under 70.
Freshman
Will Morlan concluded the day tied for 29
th position with a 1-over par 145 (74-71). Despite shooting an opening round 74 and posting three straight bogies to begin round two, Morlan closed out his final 10 holes at 3-under on four birdies to shoot a 1-under 71.

Walker Crosby is tied for 45
th at 148 (76-72) and
Jack Crosby is two strokes back tied for 55
th place with a 150 (73-77). Scott rounds out the leaderboard in a tie for 63
rd at 152 (75-77).
Walker Crosby had Furman's only eagle of the day while contributing four birdies.
Jack Crosby had a team high 10 birdies through the first two rounds and Scott contributed three in his second round.
As a team, the Paladins finished the first day of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational in 10
th place with rounds of 291 and 290 for a combined score of 5-over par 581.
No. 12 Texas leads the tournament by 16 strokes over No. 2 Oklahoma State after shooting 38-under par 538. Texas' Parker and Pierceson Coody are tied atop the individual leaderboard at 11-under 133.
The final round of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational will tee off at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Furman is scheduled to go off starting at 8:50 a.m. on the 10
th hole.
