OXFORD, Miss -- Furman sophomore Megan Marvin finished ninth in the 800m to lead the Furman outdoor track and field teams Saturday at the Joe Walker Invite at the Ole Miss Track & Field Complex in Oxford, Miss.

A native of Chapel Hill, N.C., Marvin finished ninth overall and seventh among collegiate competitors with a time of 2:06.85 in the women's 800m.  Her time is currently among the top 20 on the NCAA East Regional Qualifying list. 

On the men's side, freshman Matthew Smith posted a time of 1:50.79 to finish 16th in the 800m, while sophomore Carson Williams turned in a time of 1:53.25 for 26th place.  Senior Aaron Wier followed Williams in 27th place at 1:53.57.

The Paladins will compete at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Va., the Oregon Relays in Eugene, Ore., and the USC Open in Columbia, S.C., April 22-23.
