Furman Ties For Fifth At Bank Of Tennessee Intercollegiate

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. -- The Furman (E) men's golf team tied for fifth Tuesday in the final day of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, which was held this week at the par 72, 7,118 yard Blackthorn Club at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.

Sophomores Harris Barth (+1) and Zach Frazer (+1) tied for 28th to lead the Paladins.  Barth carded a 1-over 73 with birdies on No. 1 and No. 17 in the final round, while Frazer added a 76 with birdies on No. 10 and No. 14. 

Senior Ross Funderburke (+3) and junior Will Morlan (+3) tied for 37th after each scored a 1-over 73 in Tuesday's final round.  Funderburke posted a team-high four birdies, and Morlan recorded three birdies.  Junior Trey Diehl (+6) paced Furman with an even 72 in the final round.  He tallied three birdies Tuesday and tied for 59th.  

Host ETSU (-27), which ranks 11th nationally, won the tournament by 12 strokes over Charlotte (-15).  Augusta (-2) and Toledo (-2) tied for third, while the Paladins tied for fifth with College of Charleston (E).  Furman defeated Power 5 foes Penn State (+6), Rutgers (+7), and Virginia Tech (+8).

The Paladins return home to entertain 14 teams at the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C., Oct. 22-23.
