VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Senior Anna Morgan (-1) tied for fifth to help the Furman women's golf team (+22) to a fourth-place finish Sunday in the final day of the Evie Odom Invitational at the par 70, 5,824 Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach, Va.
Morgan, who hails from Spartanburg, S.C., birdied No. 6 and No. 10 to card a 1-over 71 in round three. She finished six strokes behind individual medalist Makenzie Cooper (-7) of Chattanooga, who won the tournament with a three-round total of 68-68-67=203.
Freshman Audrey Ryu (+2) tied for ninth after tallying a 72 with three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 15 and No. 16, on Sunday, and junior Alice Knudson (+11) and sophomore Liza Lapeyre (+11) each finished in a tie for 34th. Lapeyre shot a 73 with three birdies, while Knudson added a 74 with three birdies in the final round. Senior Caroline Crumrine (+12) carded a 75 on Sunday to tie for 40th. No. 16 UCF (+10) won the tournament by five strokes over Kent State (+15). Chattanooga (+20) finished third, followed by the Paladins in fourth place. Host Old Dominion (+26) rounded out the top five. Â
Furman will compete at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C., Oct. 27-29.
