AUBURN, Ala. -- The Furman women's tennis team recorded nine victories to conclude the fall season this weekend at the Auburn Invite at the at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Ala.

Furman swept the doubles matches on day one, as junior Sara Snyder teamed with freshman Maeve Thornton to edge out Florida's Sara Dahlstrom and Carly Briggs, 6-4, and junior Ellie Schulson and freshman Macy Hitchcock beat Clemson's Sophia Hatton and Alina Tsyurpalevych, 6-2.  On Saturday, Hitchcock and Shulson defeated Kate Zink and Danielle Alamo of Penn State, 6-2.

The Paladins chalked up six singles wins, with Hitchcock claiming three of those victories.  On Friday, she downed Vanderbilt's Naomi Katz, 6-4, 6-0, and on Saturday she topped Lucie Devier of Ole Miss, 6-3, 6-3.  Hitchcock completed the weekend with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Karly Friedland of Penn State, 7-5, 6-2, in Sunday's action.  

Snyder slipped past Reka Zadori of Ole Miss, 7-5, 7-6(3) on Saturday, and Schulson came from behind for a 6-7(2), 6-1, 6-3 advantage over Clemson's Hatton, on Sunday.  Also on Sunday, Thornton held off Tsyurpalevych of Clemson, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

The Paladins will open the 2024 spring season in January.
