GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman downed Yale, 5-2, Sunday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

The Paladins (3-6, 1-0 SoCon) swept the doubles matches to claim the first point.  Sophomores Jess Dawson and Sara Snyder defeated Ann Wright Guerry and Rhea Shrivastava, 6-4, at flight one and sophomores Marissa Pennings and Ellie Schulson teamed up to beat Chelsea Kung and Sophia Zaslow, 6-4, at number two.  At number three, senior Madison Dillon and freshman Luca Victoria Vocke blew past Vivian Cheng and Jamie Kim, 6-1.

Furman won four singles matches, three in straight sets, to seal the victory.  Pennings topped Shrivastava, 6-3, 6-2, at flight two, and Snyder sailed past Wright Guerry 6-3, 6-2, at number three.  At flight four, Dillon held on for a 6-2, 5-7, 1-0(10-6) win versus Cheng, and at flight five, Vocke defeated Zaslow, 6-3, 6-0.

The Bulldogs (5-3) scored at flights one and six.  King slipped past Schulson, 7-5, 6-1, in the top-seeded match up, and Kim recorded a 6-4, 6-3 victory over sophomore Alex Griffith at number six.

Furman will entertain Western Carolina Wedesday at 3 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
