MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Freshman Harris Barth (-3) is tied for 17th to lead the Furman men's golf team after Monday's two rounds of the General Hackler Championship, which is being hosted by Coastal Carolina at the par 72, 7,233 yard Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Barth, who hails from Atlanta, Ga., eagled the par-5 No. 4 and added two birdies in round one to score a 1-over 73 then fired a 4-under 68 with five birdies and just one bogey in round two to finish the day at 3-under.  He sits eight strokes behind leader Ben James (-11) of Virginia, who ranks 16th nationally and logged rounds of 68-65=133 on Monday. 

Senior Sam Lape (-2) and sophomore Will Morlan (-2) are tied for 22nd entering Tuesday's final round.  Lape tallied a 73 with a team-high six birdies in round one then posted a team-high seven birdies, including four straight birdies from No. 1 through No. 4, to card a 3-under 69.  Morlan shot a 71 with four birdies in round one and added a 71 with four birdies in the day's second round. 

Senior Ross Funderburke (+3) recorded a 73 with three birdies in round one and a 74 with three birdies in round two to tie for 54th, while senior Walker Crosby (+5) is tied for 62nd after scoring a 75 with three birdies in the day's opening round and a 74 with three birdies in a four hole span to end the second round. 

No. 16 Virginia (-22) leads 45th-ranked ETSU (-20) by two strokes with one round to play.  No. 39 Louisville (-15) is third, followed by Kent State (-12) in fourth.  Furman (-4) is in eight place, one stroke ahead of 35th-ranked Duke (-3) and two strokes ahead of No. 49 South Carolina (-2). 

The final round will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday with teams teeing off on No. 1 and No. 10.  Furman will tee off on No. 1 starting at 9:05 a.m. and will play in foursomes with N.C.
