MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Sophomore Will Morlan (-1) tied for 20th to lead the Furman men's golf team Tuesday in the final round of the General Hackler Championship, which was hosted by Coastal Carolina at the par 72, 7,233 yard Dunes Golf & Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

A native of Alpharetta, Ga., Morlan birdied No. 13 then eagled the par-5 No. 15 to sit at 1-under.  He added an additional birdie on No. 16 and finished the day with a 73.  Freshman Harris Barth (E) tied for 25th after carding a 75 with five birdies, including three-straight birdies from No. 15 through No. 17, in the tournament's final round.

Senior Ross Funderburke (+3) paced the Paladins with an even 72 with three birdies on Tuesday to fie for 29th, and senior Sam Lape (+4) tallied a 78 with two birdies to tie for 45th.  Senior Walker Crosby (+11) tied for 66th after shooting a 78 with a birdie on No. 13. 

No. 45 East Tennessee State (-24) won the tournament by six strokes over 16th-ranked Virginia (-18), with No. 6 Auburn (-15) taking third place.  The Paladins (+6) finished tenth, beating out 34th-ranked North Florida (13th +22), among others. 

Mats Ege (-13) of ETSU and 15th-ranked Ben James of Virginia (-13) tied for the individual championship with three-round totals of 203.

Furman ranked fourth with a 4.53 scoring average on the par 5s and was fifth with 55 birdies. 

The Paladins will compete at the Hootie at Bulls Bay tournament in Awendaw, S.C., March 26-28.
