GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman senior Cameron Ponder placed third in the 3,000m to pace the Furman indoor track and field teams Saturday at the 12th annual Camel City Elite Races Saturday at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Ponder was the top collegiate finisher, posting a time of 7:59.44 in the race, which featured four professional runners and four collegiate athletes. Senior Dylan Schubert took sixth place in the event with a time of 8:08.20.
In the women's elite mile, Paladin senior Megan Marvin led all collegiate runners and was fifth overall with a time of 4:44.87. Junior Kaylie Armitage came in sixth with a time of 5:03.99.
The Paladins notched four top-10 finishes in the final day of the Bob Pollock Invitational at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex in Clemson, S.C.
Junior Sierra Bower led all Furman runners with a fifth-place finish in the 3,000m. She crossed the line in 9:26.37, while senior Madelynne Cadeau finished ninth in the event at 9:35.37. In the women's 800m, sophomore Camryn Wennersten recorded a time of 2:11.70 for seventh place. Â
On the men's side, sophomore Luke Taylor placed sixth with a personal-best time of 8:19.55 in the 3,000m.Â
Furman will compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass., Feb. 9-10.
