Greenville, S.C. – Furman University's student-athletes logged an impressive fall semester in the classroom, according to a recent university report.

Furman's 359 student-athletes comprising the university's NCAA Division I program registered a grade point average (GPA) of 3.26 for the fall semester. In addition, 168 of Furman's student-athletes earned Dean's List honors while 45 student-athletes registered perfect 4.0 GPAs for the fall term.

Leading the way among Furman teams were women's track and women's tennis, which posted 3.78 and 3.71 fall term GPAs, respectively, followed by men's tennis (3.68), women's lacrosse (3.55), softball and volleyball (3.54), women's soccer (3.52), and women's golf (3.50). Men's soccer (3.47), men's golf (3.46), and men's track (3.08) also topped 3.0 GPAs.

The impressive work in the classroom by Paladin student-athletes this fall backed up a strong beginning to the 2023-24 campaign of competition.

Setting the pace in the fall were Furman's football and men's and women's cross country teams, who all claimed Southern Conference championships.

The Paladin football team registered a 10-3 record in 2023 and claimed the program's 15^th Southern Conference championship en route to a quarterfinal appearance in the FCS playoffs. Furman ranked among the FCS Top 10 from the preseason and as high as second for one three-week stretch before finishing seventh in the final regular season poll. Tyler Huff was honored as league Offensive Player of the Year, Jacob Johanning earned the Jacobs Blocking Award, and Carson Jones was named Co-Freshman of the Year. In addition, Clay Hendrix was recognized as both SoCon and AFCA Region II Coach of the Year. Five different Paladins received All-America honors.

For the 11^th consecutive year, the Furman men's and women's cross country teams swept the Southern Conference title in November while claiming both individual championships from Abigail Robertson and Dylan Schubert. The Paladin women earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships and Schubert won the NCAA Southeast Regional. Schubert would go on to receive his second consecutive All-America citation. Robert Gary was named the SoCon Men's and Women's Coach of the Year for the eighth straight season.

Furman men's soccer advanced to the finals of the SoCon Men's Soccer Championship for the 18^th time in program history and finished the year 10-6-3 overall.
