CARY, N.C. – The Furman men's tennis team continued its fall season by combining to capture four victories during the ITA Carolina Regional Championship from Cary Tennis Park.
The Paladins, who were competing in their second fall tournament of the season, recorded three victories in singles play and one in doubles.
In the main draw of the singles qualifying bracket, Furman had three players advance to the Round of 32 in
Walker Allen,
Nicolas Dispas, and
John Rado after all three secured straight set triumphs. Allen topped Pedro Cardoso of Presbyterian, 6-4, 6-3, while Dispas won 7-5, 6-4 over UNC Wilmington's Juan Jose Vargas. Rado defeated Alexander Fragasso of Campbell, 7-5, 6-2.
Allen and
Theophile Joly also advanced to the Round of 32 in the main draw of the doubles bracket. The duo defeated Coastal Carolina's Juan Cruz Collardin and Emiliano Gonzalez, 8-6.
The Paladins had six players compete at the ITA Carolina Regional Championship in Allen, Dispas, Joly, Rado,
Cole Burnam, and
Connor Laymon.
Furman is back in action October 25-27 at the Elon Invitational in Elon, N.C.
