Furman's Schubert Named NCAA Southeast Region Male Athlete Of The Year

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Dylan Schubert has been named the 2024 NCAA Southeast Region Male Athlete of the Year, as announced today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following the conclusion of the season.

A fifth-year student from Loveland, Colo., Schubert placed third with a 10K time of 28:39.6 at Saturday's NCAA Championship in Madison, Wis., marking the highest national finish in the history of the Furman cross country program.  He became the first three-time All-American in Paladin cross country history after placing 24th at last year's championship and 11th in 2022.

The 2024 SoCon Men's Runner of the Year, Schubert, who led the Paladins to their 12th-straight league title and a 17th-place finish at the national meet, won the individual conference title for the third-consecutive year after establishing a new course record of 23:40.1 in the 8K event in Greenville, S.C.  He went on to finish third at the NCAA Southeast Region Championship in Rock Hill, S.C., earning a spot on the all-region team for the fourth-straight year.

Schubert opened the season with a personal-best 8K time of 23:25.3 at the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals in October.
