AIKEN, S.C. -- Furman sophomore Harris Barth (+2) is in 16th place Monday's opening two rounds of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, which is being hosted by USC Aiken at the par 70, 6,617 yard Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C.

Barth, a native of Atlanta, Ga., carded a 73 with three birdies in the day's first round then paced the Paladins with a 1-under 69 with birdies on No. 9 and No. 12 in the afternoon round.  

The Paladins (+13), who are in fourth place with 18 holes to play in the tournament, have three additional players among the top 25, including junior Trey Diehl, who is tie for 17th.  Diehl tied for the Furman lead with a 71 with four birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 7 and No. 8, in round one, then shot a 72 with a birdie on No. 9 and an eagle on the par-5 No. 10 in the day's second round. 

Junior Will Morlan (+4) is tied for 20th entering Tuesday's final round.  He scored a 73 in the first round and added a 71 with three birdies in round two.  Senior Ross Funderburke (+5) tied Diehl for the team lead with a 71 with four birdies in the first round then tallied a 74 with a birdie on No. 10 to tie for 25th in the day's second round.

Senior Demi Di Matteo (+9) is tied for 48th after scoring a 76 with three birdies in round one and a 73 with back to back birdies on No. 10 and No. 11 and an additional birdie on No. 7 in round two.  

Host USC Aiken (+5) and East Carolina (+5) are tied for the lead with one round left, one stroke ahead of Davidson (+6), who sits in third place.  The Paladins (+13) are in fourth place, ahead of Virginia Tech (+14) and Boise State (+14), who are tied for fifth.  

Furman led the field with a 3.05 average on the par 3s and tied for fourth with a 4.18 average on the par 4s over the first 36 holes. 

The final round of the 54-hole tournament is slated for Tuesday at 9 a.m.  The Paladins will tee off of No. 5 through No. 8 in the third round and will play in a group with Virginia Tech and Boise State.
