GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman freshmen Lillie Murphy and Elle Warren will begin play Wednesday at the 2025 NCAA Division I Doubles Championship, which will be held Nov. 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The Paladin duo, which is one of 32 doubles teams competing for the title, is one of only two all-freshman teams in the doubles draw. Furman will face Liv Hovde and Shavit Kimchi of Duke in the first round. Â
Murphy and Warren qualified for the tournament after finishing third at the ITA Conference Masters Championship in San Diego, Calif. The Paladins came from behind to beat Wichita State's Xin Tong Wang and Giorgia Roselli, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0[14-12], to advance. Furman posted a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0[10-8] advantage over Anastasiia Grechkina and Alexia Harmon of Pepperdine in the opening round then blanked Delaware's Maryia Hrynashka and Paulina Jurkowska, 6-0, 6-0, in the round of 16. In the quarterfinals, Murphy and Warren topped Ball State's Isabelle Tanjuatco and Sarah Shahbaz, 6-2, 6-2, before falling to eventual champion Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley of San Diego State, 6-2, 6-3.Â
All matches shall be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and a seven-point tiebreaker (first to seven points, must win by two points) at six-games-all will be used for all matches. In doubles, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.
