GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's women's basketball team will tip off the 2025-26 season — and newly renovated Timmons Arena — on Monday when it plays host to North Greenville in a 7:00 p.m. contest.
The 2025-26 campaign will mark the 51st season of Paladin women's basketball and third under head coach
Pierre Curtis.
Curtis welcomes the return six letterwinners off last year's squad, led by 6-foot-1 sophomore forward
Clare Coyle, a preseason second team All-SoCon selection coming off an inaugural season that saw her average 6.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Other top returnees include sophomore guards
Raina McGowens (6.9 ppg) and
Chantelle Stuart (4.2 ppg, 106 ast.).
Seven newcomers dot this year's roster, including four transfers: 5-foot-8 junior guard
Lauren Bailey (Gardner-Webb), 5-foot-11 sophomore guard
Alyssa Ervin (Elon), 6-foot-3 sophomore forward
Kyraha Parnell (George Washington, and 6-foot-3 sophomore forward
Channing Warren (Boston University). Prep additions include
Sophia Pearl, a 5-foot-7 guard from Woodstock, Ga.,;
Brooklyn King, a 6-foot forward from Dallas, Texas; and Tyriana "Ty" Berry, a 6-foot-3 forward from Fort Thomas, Ky.
Among the Paladins' top graduation losses were All-SoCon guard
Tate Walters (12.5 ppg, 119 ast.), forward
Jada Session (10.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg), and forward
Kate Johnson (10.1 ppg, 5.8 rpg).
The Paladins were picked fifth in a preseason poll of SoCon head coaches.
Furman is slated to play 16 home games this season in the newly renovated Timmons Arena, which underwent a $40 million renovation to turn the facility into one of the premier mid-major college basketball venues in the country. The renovation project, led by Ken Betsch & Associates and Harper General Contractors, was donor-funded with businessman and philanthropist Ravenel B. Curry III, a 1963 Furman graduate, providing the lead gift of $10 million to spearhead the project that was also generously supported by the Timmons and Pelham families in honor of their family's original commitment to the arena in 1997.
Monday's game will represent the first regular season contest in the new facility and will be live streamed by ESPN+ and include StatBroadcast live stats, with links to both available on the women's basketball schedule page at FurmanPaladins.com.
