AWENDAW, S.C. -- Furman's Clark Akers (-9) is in second place, while the Paladins team is tied for second following Monday's round two of theHootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate at the par 72, 7,220 yard Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C.  

Akers, a junior from Nashville, Tenn., teed off on No. 1 and birdied No. 4 and No. 5 to turn at 1-under par.  He added an additional birdie on No. 15 to card a 70 in the round and sits one stroke back of Purdue's Jenson Forrester (-10), who leads the tournament with a 36-hole total of 68-66=134.

Furman (-16) moved up into a tie second place after three Paladins scored under par on Monday.  No. 39 Purdue (-22) holds a six shot lead over Furman, which is tied for second with co-host College of Charleston (-16).  No. 18 South Carolina (-12), which is also co-hosting the tournament, is in fourth place, followed by Missouri (-10) in fifth place.  

Junior Harris Barth (-6) fired a 69 with a team-high five birdies to pace the Paladins in round two.  He posted three birdies in four holes from No. 13 through No. 16 and is tied for fifth place.  Senior Will Morlan (-1) scored a 70 with four birdies to move up into a tie for 28th with 18 to play.  

Senior Trey Diehl (+1) notched a 1-over 73 with three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 4 and No. 5, to tie for 45th, and freshman David Oliver, IV, (+4) shot even par with three birdies and is tied for 66th. 

The 54-hole tournament concludes on Tuesday staring at 8 a.m. with teams teeing off of No. 1 and No. 10.  Furman will tee off on No. 1 beginning at 0:12 a.m. and will play in a group with Purdue and College of Charleston.
