TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Furman junior Harris Barth (-4) carded a final-round 70 to tie for ninth Wednesday at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional at the par-72, 7,520 yard Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Barth played a flawless round with birdies on No. 8 and No. 14. He parred the other 16 holes to finish the regional with a three-round total of 74-68-70=212. Florida State's Luke Clanton, who ranks fifth nationally, won the individual championship by four strokes after shooting 15-under over the three-day tournament. Senior Trey Diehl (+3) carded a 74 with three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 4 and No. 5, to tie for 32nd, and senior Will Morlan (+6) shot even par with birdies on No. 4 and No. 16, tying for 43rd. Junior Clark Akers (+8) finished in a tie for 50th after recording a 73 with a team-high four birdies. He posted back to back birdies on No. 3 and No. 4, in addition to notching two birdies on the back. Freshman David Oliver IV (+4) played as a substitute in Wednesday's round. He birdied three out of five holes from No. 4 through No. 8 and concluded the round with a 76.
No. 11 Florida State (-21) won the regional by nine shots over third-ranked Ole Miss. No. 46 New Mexico (-14) finished third, followed by 22nd-ranked Georgia (-7) in fourth place. Augusta (-3) finished fifth to claim the regional's final advancing spot. Furman (+13) tied for 11th place after shooting 1-over in the final round. The Paladins were part of a 14-team regional field that battled for a top-five finish and a berth in the 30-team NCAA Championship, which will be held May 23-28 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. Furman, which received a regional at-large bid for just the second time since 2002, made its sixth NCAA Regional appearance. The Paladins last competed at a regional in 2023, when Furman finished tenth at the NCAA Salem Regional in Salem, S.C.
