GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team begins its 2026 spring season this weekend when it travels to face the Ole Miss Rebels and Alabama Crimson Tide in non-conference action.

The Paladins kick off the season Saturday afternoon facing Ole Miss in a doubleheader with match times slated for 12 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively. Furman then heads to Alabama on Sunday for a 12 p.m. contest versus the Crimson Tide.

Fans can follow the action on www.furmanpaladins.com via live stats and live streaming. Updates will be posted on the Furman men's tennis Twitter page (@FurmanMTennis).

Under the direction of head coach J.J. Whitlinger, who is entering his 11th year overall with the Paladins and seventh as head coach, Furman is coming off its first appearance in the SoCon Men's Tennis Championship finals since 2019 and finished last year 9-15 overall and 3-4 in the SoCon. Furman concluded the year winning three of its last four matches including a 4-3 upset of top-seeded East Tennessee State in the semifinals of the SoCon Men's Tennis Championship.

The Paladins return a total of seven letterwinners from last season, including SoCon All-Freshman Team selection Theophile Joly, and welcome three freshmen newcomers.

Ole Miss was picked 12th in the SEC Preseason Coaches' Poll while Alabama was tabbed 15th. The Rebels finished 12-14 last year while the Crimson Tide logged a 15-13 overall record.

Furman is facing Alabama for the 19th time in program history and Ole Miss the second. The Crimson Tide own a 17-1 advantage in the all-time series and the Rebels lead 1-0.

The Paladins are off until January 30-31 when they host North Greenville, Presbyterian, and Emmanuel (Ga.) in their first home matches of the season.
