GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team is back on the road for the sixth contest of its 10-match road trip Friday morning traveling to Charlotte for a 10:30 a.m. match against the 49ers from Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

The Paladins (2-7) resumed their road trip last weekend dropping a pair of matches to Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, Ky.

In the 4-2 loss to Tennessee Tech on February 20, Furman picked up a pair of singles victories from Nico Snyder at No. 1 and Theophile Joly at No. 2. Snyder earned his third consecutive win, and fourth of the season, with a 6-4, 6-4 triumph, while Joly added a three-set win, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, for his second victory this year. In doubles, Evan Duggal and Landon Ecarma were leading their No. 3 match, 5-4, when Tennessee Tech clinched the doubles point.

The Paladins followed the next day with a 4-0 loss to Eastern Kentucky. Duggal and Ecarma were also ahead in their No. 2 doubles match, 5-4, when EKU captured the point.

Charlotte has won its last two matches over South Carolina State and Elon and enter Friday's matchup with a 6-1 overall record. The 49ers are under the direction of seventh-year head coach Kyle Bailey.

Furman and Charlotte are meeting for the 24th time in program history with the Paladins owning an 18-5 advantage in the all-time series. The teams are meeting for the first time since 2021 when the 49ers claimed a 5-0 victory in Greenville.

Furman begins a set of three matches in four days next Wednesday, March 4, opening Southern Conference play on the road against UNC Greensboro at 1 p.m. The Paladins then travel to Washington and Lee on March 5 and James Madison on March 7.
