LEXINGTON, VA. – The Furman men's tennis team recorded its second consecutive victory Thursday afternoon with a 7-0 sweep of the Washington and Lee Generals in non-conference action from the Outdoor Tennis Courts.
Furman improves to 4-8 on the season while Washington and Lee drops to 3-6 overall.
The Paladins clinched the doubles point after picking up wins in two out of the three matches.
Walker Allen and
Nicolas Dispas, playing at No. 3, got things started for Furman with their 6-2 victory over Pearce Lane and Harrison Silver. In the No. 2 match,
Landon Ecarma and
Theophile Joly clinched the point following a 6-4 triumph versus Ryan Good and Sanjheev Rao.
The Paladins would then sweep all six singles contests in straight sets to compile the 7-0 victory. Allen began by topping Todd Cannaliato in the No. 3 match, 6-1, 6-3, with Dispas following at No. 2 defeating Justin Ilie, 6-1, 6-1. Playing at No. 1, Joly won 6-3, 6-2 over Parker. Ecarma earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory versus Lane at No. 4 and Han tallied a 6-4, 7-6(4) win at No. 5 against Sahil Arora. Barnabas Sift, competing at No. 6, wrapped up the match by winning in three sets versus Rao, 6-1, 6-7(5), 1-0(10-4).
