GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will entertain Belmont and Virginia Tech this weekend at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville. The Paladins will square off against the Bruins on Saturday then turn around and play the Hokies on Sunday. First serve for both matches is set for 11 a.m.
The Paladins, who rank 67th nationally, topped Florida Gulf Coast, 4-2, then blanked Toledo to move to 5-3 following the team's spring break trip earlier this week. Freshmen Lillie Murphy and Elle Warren, who competed at the NCAA Doubles Championship in the fall, are ranked 34th nationally in doubles, while freshmen Sasha Dimitrov and Murphy are ranked 63rd nationally after notching spring wins over Iowa and Austin Peay.
Belmont is 1-8 after being edged out by Western Kentucky, 4-3, on Saturday. Furman defeated the Bruins, 7-0, last season in Nashville in the only previous meeting between the two teams.
Virginia Tech has been idle since Feb. 22, when ETSU downed the Hokies, 4-3, to drop the team to 3-5 overall. Virginia Tech leads the all-time series, 7-5, after winning last year's meeting, 4-2, in Blacksburg.
Live scoring and live statistics for both matches will be available on the Furman website.
