GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule Thursday afternoon with a 5-0 victory over the Emmanuel (Ga.) Lions at Mickel Tennis Center.
Furman improves to 7-12 on the season while Emmanuel (Ga.) drops to 13-4 overall.
For the seventh time in the past eight matches, the Paladins clinched the doubles point following wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to take the early 1-0 lead.

Finn Pollard, playing at No. 2, got things started for Furman with a 6-2 victory over Henrique Castro and Murilo Martins. Following a win by the Lions at No. 3, the No. 1 tandem of
Nicolas Dispas and
Nico Snyder captured the point after holding off James Girdler and Shumpei Kamiyama, 6-4.
The Paladins followed in singles with four straight wins to secure the 5-0 sweep. Furman received straight-set victories from
Walker Allen at No. 2, Han at No. 4, Pollard at No. 5, and Barnabas Sift at No. 6. Sift began with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Matteo Hofstetter, and Pollard continued by picking up a 6-4, 6-2 triumph versus Kamiyama. Han captured the match for the Paladins with his 6-4, 6-3 victory over Castro. Allen closed out the match topping Martins, 6-3, 6-2.
Furman finishes the regular season with three straight conference matches beginning on Saturday afternoon when it travels to Birmingham, Ala., to face Samford at 2 p.m.
