GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Furman men's tennis team plays its final road match of the season Saturday afternoon making the trip to Birmingham, Ala., for a 2 p.m. matchup with 73
rd-ranked Samford at the Samford Tennis Center.

The Paladins (7-12, 3-1 SoCon) concluded their non-conference schedule this week, splitting a pair of home matches with Presbyterian and Emmanuel (Ga.). Furman opened the week on Tuesday with a 4-2 loss to Presbyterian before responding two days later sweeping Emmanuel (Ga.) by a 5-0 score.
In the loss to Presbyterian, the Paladins fought back to secure the doubles point winning two out of three from
Nicolas Dispas and
Nico Snyder at No. 1 and
Evan Duggal and
Landon Ecarma at No. 2. Ecarma put Furman on the board in singles with his three-set triumph at No. 4.
The Paladins closed out non-conference play on Thursday with a sweep of Emmanuel (Ga.) at Mickel Tennis Center. Dispas and Snyder clinched the doubles point with their win at No. 1 while
Alex Han and
Finn Pollard got things started securing a victory at No. 2. In singles, Furman followed with four consecutive wins from
Walker Allen at No. 2, Han at No. 4, Pollard at No. 5, and Barnabas Sift at No. 6.
Samford (12-6, 4-1 SoCon) has won eight of its last 10 matches dating back to February but is coming off a 4-3 loss to 60
th-ranked East Tennessee State this past Sunday. The Bulldogs are under the direction of third-year head coach Oliver Reynolds.
The Paladins are facing Samford for the 26
th time in program history and hold a 14-11 advantage in the all-time series.
Furman closes out the regular season next week with a pair of conference home matches beginning on Monday, April 6, hosting East Tennessee State at 1 p.m.
