GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman head women's tennis coach Michelle Dasso announced today the hiring of Allie Gretkowski as the team's new assistant coach.
"Allie had an excellent season last year coaching at Elon, is from the state of South Carolina so very familiar with the area, and loves college tennis," said Dasso. "I know she will be impressed with our culture and can't wait for her to see firsthand how invested our players are."
A native of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Gretkowski spent the 2025-26 season as an assistant coach at Elon, where the Phoenix posted a 16-4 overall record and earned a national ranking of 58th, the highest in Elon women's tennis history. The Phoenix won the CAA title last spring and made the program's second appearance at the NCAA Championship. Gretkowski led the team's recruiting efforts, including prospect evaluation and communication, while supporting fundraising initiatives through donor engagement and event coordination.
Also for the past year, she served as a tennis professional at Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms, where she instructed guests of all ages and skill levels through private lessons, clinics, and group sessions.

Gretkowski began her collegiate career at South Carolina, where she competed as high as flight three in singles and found significant success in doubles, ranking as high as 37th nationally and recording a perfect 12-0 mark at the No. 3 position. Later as a redshirt senior at Louisville, Gretkowski posted a 13-5 singles record with key wins over ACC opponents Florida State, Clemson, and Syracuse.
The top recruit in South Carolina by TennisRecruiting.net, Gretkowski was ranked 12th nationally as a prep star at South Carolina Connections Academy. She was named the South Carolina USTA Player of the Year in 2017 and won the doubles championship at the prestigious Eddie Herr ITF Championships in 2018.
Gretkowski earned a bachelor's degree in sport administration from Louisville in 2024. She was a member of the ITA All-Academic Team and the All-ACC Academic Team, in addition to being selected for the CSC Academic All-District Team.
