Maggie Pate Career Records
Sophomore Year (2020-21): Pate recorded a 15-8 overall singles record and 6-1 SoCon singles mark, playing primarily at flights four and five. She posted a 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-7) victory at flight six at Tennessee and began a six-match winning streak with a 2-6, 6-2, 7-6(3) win at 18
th-ranked South Carolina at flight five. Over the team’s spring break trip in March, Pate defeated No. 18 UCF, 7-6(4), 5-7, 1-0(12-10), also at flight five. Pate won seven-straight matches beginning at North Florida (6-1, 6-2 – flight five) on March 10 and continuing through April 8 versus Mercer (8-3 – flight five). She went 12-7 in doubles, including a perfect 7-0 mark against SoCon foes. Pate teamed with Ellie Schoppe for nonconference wins versus Presbyterian, Kennesaw State, South Florida, North Florida, and Davidson. She was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, and the ITA All-Academic Team.
Freshman Year (2019-20): Pate recorded a 12-2 singles record and 3-1 doubles record in her first season at Furman. She put together a 10-match singles winning streak to open the season, with key victories over Michigan State (6-2, 1-6, 6-3), Lipscomb (6-4, 4-6, 1-0(10-6), and Louisville (6-3, 6-1). Pate won in straight sets versus Middle Tennessee (6-4, 6-0), Marshall (6-1, 6-2), Liberty (6-4, 6-3) and VCU (6-0, 6-1). In doubles, she teamed with Madison Dillon for a 6-1 win at flight three versus USC Upstate, and she partnered with Mary Hunter Hyche to defeat Emmanuel, 6-1, at flight three. Pate and Carol Elizabeth Kerman beat Limestone, 6-0, at flight three. Pate was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and the ITA All-Academic Team.
Prep/Personal: Pate, a four-star recruit by
www.tennisrecruiting.net, was ranked 19th in the Southeast and 70
th nationally among her graduating class. She recorded a combined 28-7 record versus three and four-star recruits. Pate won three-consecutive district singles championships at Durant High and qualified each year for the Florida state championships. A three-time team MVP, she went undefeated in regular season and district singles play. Pate was a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society, and the National English Honor Society. She is majoring in accounting.
