Biography

2014 — Made seven appearances, all in relief, and totaled 6.0 innnings of work...pitched a scoreless inning with a strikeout in 9-0 blanking of Garnder-Webb in Boiling Springs...named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.  2013 — Saw his most action, appearing in 16 games and posting 12 starts...went 2-2 with a 7.69 ERA...opened the season in promising fashion, earning the victory (5.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K) in 6-5 triumph over Miami of Ohio...proved very effective in his next start (no decision) in 5-1 win over Cincinnati (3.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K)...was outstanding in 10-6 road, series-clinching win over Elon (5.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, career high 11 K), earning the victory to improve to 2-0 with 1.84 ERA in first four appearances (starts)...struggled thereafter except for start versus nationally 11th-ranked South Carolina (4.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 3 K) in an eventual 6-5 Furman triumph.  2012 — Appeared in eight games and made one start vs. USC Upstate (2.0 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 1 K)...did not figure into the decision after team rallied from 6-0 deficit for a 10-7 win over the Spartans...tossed 1 2/3 innings of no-hit relief against College of Charleston (14-6 loss)...worked a perfect frame in 9-5 victory over Toledo...opponents hit just .237 against him...named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll...earned Southern Collegiate Baseball League All-Star honors as a closer in 2012, going 3-2 with a 1.92 and one save in helping the Carolina Chaos advance to the SCBL Championship Game.

High School:  2011 graduate of Walhalla (3A) High School...pitched and played infield...coach was Jamie Garland...set school single season (10) and career (20) home run records...SCBCA North-South All-Star selection...two-time all-region pick...earned region player of the year, All-Mountain Lakes Player of the Year, and all-state honors as a junior (.493, 7-0, 1.96 ERA, 110 K)…member of two district championship teams...three-time pick to SC District 1 Big League World Series team and two-time pick to SC Palmetto Games... All-Diamond Prospects Team and Diamond Prospects All-Academic Team…SC Scholar Athlete...Walhalla High School MVP, Cy Young Award, Silver Slugger Award…played summer ball with the Diamond Devils (2010 WWBA 17U National Champs)…also played basketball.

Personal:  Full name is William Jaques Wolff III...son of the late Billy Wolff (2002) and Sherry and Rick Moxley...grandfather is former Paladin basketball great Nield Gordon (1951-52), a member of the Furman, Newberry, Winthrop, South Carolina, and NAIA Athletic Halls of Fame who played alongside Paladin All-American Frank Selvy, averaging 22.6 ppg in his Furman tenure...his No. 27 is one of five retired Furman jerseys...health sciences major.
