Biography

Furman:  Versatile, overachieving left-hander who figures to again be a key contributor...in each of the last two campaigns has started the year in the bullpen only to later secure a starting role and post some of the program’s most notable wins during that span. 2011 — Made 18 appearances, including 14 starts, and posted a 4-3 record with a 4.83 ERA...worked 76 1/3 innings, the second highest total on the staff behind Bobby Lyne...allowed 78 hits and 37 walks while striking out only 16...opponents hit .272 against him...is adept at pitching out of trouble as evidenced by opponents’ .280 average with runners on base, the lowest on the staff...spun 5 2/3 innings of three-hit, shutout ball (3 BB, 2 K) to earn the win in Furman’s 3-0 blanking of Georgia at Fluor Field...two starts later worked and worked 5 2/3 frames, allowing five hits and two unearned runs (1 BB, 2 K) in the Paladins’ 4-2 victory over fourth-ranked and defending national champion South Carolina, also at Fluor Field...came back in his next outing with a career long 7.0 inning,  three-hit, shutout start against Wofford (3-2 win)...work versus USC and Wofford earned him SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week honors...other wins came against East Tennessee State (14-5) and Samford (5-3)...threw two hitless innings (1 BB) against Clemson (5-1 loss) in a pitch limit start at Fluor Field....named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.  2010 — Compiled a 5-3 record and 5.08 in 23 appearances, 10 of which were starts...played a critical role down the stretch, winning his last two starts of the regular season (and a third decision in relief) to help Furman go 6-0 in its final six league contests and secure a SoCon Tournament bid...opened the season with eight consecutive relief appearances before earning the first start of his career vs. Georgia in Athens...tossed six innings of six-hit, one-run ball (1 BB, 5 K) versus the Bulldogs to earn the victory in the eventual 10-9 Paladin triumph, the first by Furman in Athens since 1925...also claimed winning decisions against Appalachian State (6-3 win), two decisions versus Wofford (14-6 & 11-6) in a three-game series, and an 11-6 road triumph at UNC Greensboro...ranked second on the staff in innings pitched (72.2)...named to the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.   2009 — Appeared in 20 games, all in relief...worked 20 2/3 innings...hurled  1 1/3 innings of no-hit, scoreless ball in Furman’s 4-2 win over 19th-ranked Clemson...recorded an out to help preserve a 4-3 win over Wofford....named to SoCon Academic Honor Roll.

High School:  2008 graduate of Southlake (2A) Christian Academy...served as team captain his senior year...went 6-2 with 0.85 ERA...hit .575 with 7 HR and 44 RBI...two-time all-state selection...all-state quarterback...Who’s Who Among American High School Students...National Merit Scholar.
