Biography

2016 — Played in 56 of Furman’s 59 games and started in 49 contests — all in center field...hit .273 with three home runs and 26 RBI...nine stolen bases (16 attempts) ranked second on the team behind Jabari Richards’ 10 swipes...was hit by pitch 10 times to lead the team...batted cleanup in 36 games...scuffled at the plate early, hitting just .167 (10x60) over his first 20 games...turned it around by batting .323 (41x127) over this final 36 games...went 4-for-5, swiped two bases, and scored four runs in game two 12-7 win and doubleheader sweep of The Citadel in Charleston, helping the Paladins to the eventual three-game series sweep of the Bulldogs...homered, drove in pair of runs, and scored twice in a 2-for-3 pefformance against Western Carolina in a 9-8 series clinching victory...fashioned a stellar game in a 15-4 win at VMI, igniting an 11-run rally out of rain delay (game tied 4-4 when halted in fourth inning) by hitting the first pitch he saw into the right center field gap and scoring the first of 11 unanswered runs...later homered in the sixth, walked and scored in the eighth, and delivered a two-run single in the ninth...went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs, including go-ahead RBI single in the ninth inning, in Furman’s 8-6, series clinching win at West Virginia....stroked a full count, two-run single in the seventh inning to extend a 1-0 Furman lead in an eventual 3-0 shutout of East Tennessee State in SoCon Tournament first round action.

2015 — Earned playing time in 46 games and posted 28 starts — all in centerfield...registered 23 of his 28 starts prior to April 1  before giving way to Carter Grote...notched improvement at the plate, upping his average to .270...stole nine bases in 10 attempts to lead the squad...struck out only 14 times in 115 at bats...hit .310 in SoCon play, going 9-for-9 with five doubles with no strikeouts...went 2-for-4, scored a pair of runs, and stole four bases versus South Carolina in Columbia (5-2 loss)...recorded a 3-for-4 performance, stole two bases, and scored four runs in a 13-4 win over Marist...doubled and drove in a run against Samford (6-4 win)...came up big in an 8-4 win over eventual SoCon regular season and tournament champion Mercer, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, a stolen base, and three runs...stroked a game winning, one-out RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to score Jake Jones from third base against ETSU (10-9 win)...belted an RBI double in his last at bat of the season in Furman’s 12-4 SoCon Tournament triumph over Western Carolina...played summer ball with the Fayetteville SwampDogs of the Coastal Plains League, hitting .259 with two home runs and 19 RBI in 46 games (45 starts)...represented Fayetteville in the Coastal Plains All-Star Game.

2014 — Saw action in 47 games and earned starts in center field in 40 contests — the most by any Paladin freshman...batted .241 with 14 RBI...hit ninth in the order in 34 games...fielded at .978 clip, handling 88 of 90 total chances....recorded six stolen bases in eight attempts...singled against Xavier (11-6 loss) in his first collegiate plate appearance, part of a 1-for-3 performance that included a walk and a run...walked twice, swiped a base, and scored a pair of runs in Furman’s next game, a 13-5 triumph over Toledo...went 2-for-4 with two RBI in a 13-1 rout of USC Upstate at Fluor Field...registered a pair of three-hit outings against Hofstra (5-4, 10-inning win) and North Carolina Central (3-2, 10-inning loss), which framed an 8-for-11 batting stretch over three games...doubled and collected three RBI in a 3-for-5 performance at Samford (11-9 win)...was hitting .281 on Apr. 1 before slumping to .163 (8x49, 1 RBI) over the season’s final 20 games.

High School: 2013 graduate of Johns Creek (6A) High School...baseball coach was Billy Nicholson...two-time Region 6-6A Player of the Year choice after pacing Johns Creek to a region championships and state playoff appearances his junior and senior years...named to the prestigious 2013 Louisville Slugger High School All-America Team, as selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper...played travel ball with the East Cobb Braves 17u coached by Kevin Baldwin...was also a solid football quarterback, helping key Johns Creek to a combined 17-3 record in two seasons as a starter.
