Biography

2014 — Made the move from bullpen into the starting rotation, where he competed well, posting a 3-5 record with a 3.90 ERA...led the staff with 15 starts and 90.0 innings of work...opponents hit .253 against him — lowest among regular starting pitchers...served as Furman’s Friday night ace in SoCon play...displayed solid consistency, hurling at least 5.0 innings in 14 of his 15 starts and getting roughed up (1.1 IP, 6 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 2 BB, 0 K) only his season debut versus Xavier (11-6 loss)...pitched superbly (no decision) in 3-1 win over Stetson (7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K)...picked up his first victory (7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, season high 9 K) against Wofford (6-5 win)...tossed superb ball (5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R 1 BB, 5 K) in 14-3 rout of Elon to set the stage for a three-game series sweep of the Phoenix...beat SoCon regular season champion Western Carolina (7.0 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 5 K) with 3-2 Furman triumph in SoCon Tournament action...excluding his season opening loss to Xavier, notched a 3.34 ERA over his final 14 starts (88 2/3 innings).  2013 — Served almost exclusively in a relief role and as the team’s chief closer, making 26 appearances and racking up a squad best seven saves...went 0-1 with a 4.66 ERA...struck out 33 in 36 2/3 innings of work...notched saves against Miami of Ohio (6-5 win), Michigan State (8-5 win), Coastal Carolina (4-1 win), Appalachian State (6-5 win), Georgia (7-5 win), South Carolina (6-5 win), and College of Charleston (11-9 win)...yielded a pair of two-out walks in the ninth inning versus 11th-ranked South Carolina at Fluor Field before retiriing Grayson Greiner on a fielder’s choice to save the victory.  2012 — Enjoyed a high impact freshman season, ranking second on the team in appearances (32) behind Stephen Gary while going 2-2 and a save in 35.0 innings of work...opponents hits just .245 against him...served primarily in a setup role...picked up his first win in a 9-8 victory over UNCG (0.2 IP, 3 H, 1 R)...second win came in another 9-8 decision over Western Carolina (1.0 IP, 0 H, 1 K) in Southern Conference Tournament elimination round game...turned in his strongest outing of the season (3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 5 K) and recorded his first save in series opener against Davidson (12-1 win) that clinched league tournament bid for Paladins...tossed two shutout, hitless frames against Georgia (5-4 win)...earned Valley Baseball League All-Star honors pitching for the Strasburg Express...posted a 2-1 record with a 1.48 ERA and five saves while limiting opponents to a .140 batting average...allowed only 14 hits and recorded 30 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings.

High School:  2011 graduate of New Bern (4A) High School, which also produced current Paladin teammate Matt Towarnicky...head coach was Gary Smith...earned first team All-Mideastern Conference and all-state honors and was named Sun Journal Player of the Year his senior year...landed second team all-conference all-area accolades as a junior and sophomore...helped New Bern to a conference crown in 2010, his junior year...played three seasons of football, seeing action at quarterback and wide receiver...member of 2010 16u WWBA National Championship squad and 16u, 17u Dynamic World Series crown.
