Samantha Darby

Samantha Darby, MS, LAT, ATC, has been a member of Furman’s sports medicine staff since January of 2021, joining the program as an athletic training fellow before being elevated to full-time status six months later.  

Her current sports duties include football and Furman’s cheerleaders.  She also oversees the sports medicine student assistants program and is the preceptor for High Point, Idaho, Georgia, and University of South Carolina MSAT programs.  In addition, she has served as a sports medicine assistant for the 2022 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament 1st/2nd Rounds and 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament 3rd/4th Rounds.

A 2018 graduate of Seton Hall University with a bachelor of science degree in biology, Darby moved on to Moravian College for her master of science degree, which included clinical rotations at Lehigh University, St. Luke’s Health Network, and Monmouth University.  Following graduation she completed additional training in Furman’s sports medicine fellowship program.

Darby has extensive post-graduate professional development and has been published in the Athletic Training Education Journal.  In addition, she holds a number of certifications and licenses, including ATC and LAT. She is Graston Technique Trained, is an ImPACT Trained Athletic Trainer, holds a Level 1 certification in Master Dry Needling, and is certified in Mental Health First Aid.
