Daniel Assey is now in his eighth year with Furman Athletics, having initially overseen the Paladin football equipment operation before recently adding the position of director of equipment and licensing for entire program.

His wide array of duties associated with the Paladin Athletics and football include, among others, purchasing and managing all apparel and equipment; assisting the recruiting coordinator with official visits, facility tours, and equipment presentations; coordinating field setup for all practices and game day setup for sideline and locker rooms; setup of the coaches’ communication system during games; and managing the Pearce-Horton Football Complex, Paladin Stadium, and practice fields for repairs and maintenance.

In addition, he also serves as Furman’s athletic department liaison to Nike Sports Marketing and BSN Sports.

Assey came to Furman following an eight-month stint at Chattanooga.  Before that he worked for two years at Wofford, where he also served as head football equipment manager and assistant director of athletic facilities from May of 2011 until June of 2013.

Certified by the Athletic Equipment Managers Association, he has served as president of the Southern Conference Equipment Managers Association for the past three years and was named SoCon Equipment Manager of the Year in 2016.

He has also served on Furman University’s Staff Advisory Committee.

Assey is a 2011 graduate of the University of South Carolina Upstate with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in business and education.

He has a son, Doug, born May 29, 2019.
