Prior to his time at Shorter, Collings worked as a graduate assistant coach at Winthrop and as an instructor at the Chris Haack Bulldog Golf Camp.  He also has prior experience as a rules official with the North Florida Junior Golf Foundation.

During a collegiate career that spanned five seasons, Collings spent two seasons at Flagler, two seasons at Shorter, and a graduate season at Winthrop.  Over the five years, he competed in 36 tournaments, posting 14 top-25 finishes, including seven top-10 performances.  He placed fifth at the 2019 Peach Belt Conference Championship, where he helped Flagler to the team title.
