Biography

Junior Year (2011-12):  Aru posted a 6-15 overall singles record and 3-6 SoCon mark, playing in the number four and number five spots in the lineup.  He recorded a 6-2, 6-3 win at Presbyterian in the number four position then notched back-to-back 6-4, 6-4 nonconference victories against Winthrop and Coastal Carolina, both at number five singles.  In league play, Aru earned a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4, win at Chattanooga and bested Davidson, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5, in the fifth singles spot.  He moved to number four singles later in the season, where he topped The Citadel, 6-4, 6-2.  Aru was named to the Southern Conference Academic All-Conference Team and the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.

Sophomore Year (2010-11): Aru posted a 5-11 overall singles record and 3-4 league mark in singles competition.  He notched a 6-3, 7-6(4) win at #27 Florida State in the fifth singles slot, then recorded a 6-0, 6-2 win at number six singles versus Brevard.  Aru opened the conference slate with a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 sixth-seed win at The Citadel and tallied consecutive wins over Chattanooga and UNC Greensboro at number six singles to conclude the regular season.  In the first round of the SoCon Championship, he had a 6-7(4), 6-4, 1-0 (12-10) win over UNC Greensboro.  He competed in one doubles match, an 8-3 win over The Citadel at number three with partner Watson George.  Aru was chosen to the Southern Conference Academic All-Conference team and was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll for the second-consecutive year. 

Freshman Year (2009-10):  Aru was a member of the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Prep/Personal: Robbie Aru completed his prep career at the Jackson Preparatory School under coach Rachel Causey. He helped his team to six-straight state championships and six undefeated seasons. Aru was the top-ranked player in Mississippi for his last three seasons and was ranked 16th in the South. Aru is a member of the National Honor Society and the Cum Laude Society.  Roberto Giorgio Aru was born on April 22, 1991 in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. He is the son of Giorgio and Jan Aru. He is undecided on his major.
