Career:  Adams concluded his collegiate career as one of the most decorated athletes in Furman cross country and track and field history. A six-time All-American, he earned the distinction in cross country, indoors in the mile and 3,000m, and outdoors in the 1,500m on three occasions. A three-time All-Southeast Region selection in cross country, he was honored as the 2019 Southern Conference Cross Country Runner of the Year and as a the 2019 SoCon Men's Indoor Track Most Outstanding Track Performer. He holds Paladin program records in the 800m, mile, and 3,000m indoors and in the 1,500m outdoors. Â
Senior (2019-2020): Earned NCAA Indoor Track and Field All-American accolades in both the 3,000m and mile after qualifying for the national championship meet with school record-setting performances in both events...earned a cross country All-American citation after placing 32nd (31:13.9) at the NCAA Championships…finished third at the NCAA Southeast Region Cross Country Championships, tying the highest individual finish ever by a Furman athlete...named 2019 SoCon Cross Country Runner of the Year after winning the league individual title (24:40.8) and leading the Paladins to their seventh-consecutive team championship...won third consecutive indoor conference championship in the 800 meters (1:50.37) and anchored the winning distance medley relay...set a new school record with a time of 7:49.45 in the 3,000m on the way to a runner-up finish against a professional field at the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge...broke the indoor mile school record with a time of 3:57.66, his first sub 4:00 performance, to place second at the Vanderbilt Invitational...finished as the top collegiate runner in the Camel City Elite Mile, taking fifth place in 4:00.65...recorded a sixth place finish (23:36.8) at the Bill Dellinger Invitational...placed 11th at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational with a time of 23:50.0...kicked off the season with a victory at the Charlotte Cross Country Opener with a time of 15:02.8...won the Eye Opener Cross Country Festival with a time of 24:53.8.Â
Senior Year (2018-19):  Earned second team All-American honors in the 1,500m after placing seventh in his heat and 16th overall with a time of 3:47.21 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships…competed in the event at the national meet for the second time in three years after finishing third in his heat and 11th overall with a time of 3:49.63 at the NCAA East Preliminaries…chosen the Southern Conference Men’s Indoor Track Most Outstanding Track Performer after winning the 800m (1:53.18) and placing second in both the mile (4:19.78) and the DMR (10:07.11)…earned All-SoCon scrolls in all three events during the indoor season…named to the all-region team after finishing eighth with a time of 30:10.7 at the NCAA Southeast Region Cross Country Championships…earned a spot on the All-SoCon first team after placing fifth with a time of 25:27.7 at the SoCon Cross Country Championships…finished tenth at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Cross Country Invitational…also named to the All-SoCon team for both the 800m and 1,500m during outdoor season…placed fourth with a personal-best time of 1:50.17 in the 800m at the Tennessee Relays…finished fourth in the 1,500m at the Cardinal Classic…won the 1,500m with a personal-best time of 3:42.57 at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier meet…named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Junior Year (2017-18):  Named to the All-SoCon second team after placing ninth with a time of 24:28.8 at the league cross country championships…finished 30th with a time of 30:01.6 at the Southeast Region Cross Country Championships…placed second with a time of 24:38.2 at the High Point Vertcross cross country meet…named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Sophomore Year (2016-17):  Earned All-American honorable mention accolades after placing 22nd with a time of 3:49.48 in the 1,500m at the NCAA Championships…set a new Paladin outdoor record with a time of 3:42.25 in the 1,500m, taking second place at the Raleigh Relays and qualifying for the NCAA East Preliminaries…honored as the SoCon Most Outstanding Performer for indoor track and field…chosen the SoCon Freshman of the Year after placing fourth with a time of 24:08.5 at the SoCon Cross Country Championships…earned All-SoCon first team honors for cross country and was named to the SoCon All-Freshman Team…claimed a spot on the All-Southeast Region cross country team after placing 24th with a time of 30:08.7 at the region meet…finished fourth with a time of 25:35.0 at the Eye Opener Cross Country Invitational… a member of the Paladin DMR team that took the title with a time of 10:05.42 at the league indoor meet…won the 800m (1:53.02) and placed second in the mile (4:16.35) at the SoCon Indoor Championships…won the mile with a time of 4:02.73 at the Tiger Indoor Tune-Up…placed 10th in the first round (3:50.37) and seventh in the quarterfinals (3:47.32) of the 1,500m at the NCAA East Preliminaries…won the 800m with a time of 1:51.22 at the SoCon Outdoor Championships…also took first in the 800m at the Tiger Outdoor Track Classic, posting a time of 1:50.82.
Freshman Year (2015-16):  Earned Southern Conference All-Freshman Team citations for both indoor and outdoor track…won the mile at the ETSU Indoor Invitational and the 3,000m at the JDL Indoor College Kick Off Classic…posted a season-best time of 4:05.2 in the mile at the Vanderbilt Indoor Invitational, capturing sixth place…set a new Paladin record with a time of 1:50.77 in the 800m at the Music City Challenge…finished fourth in the 800m (1:53.8) and fifth in the mile (4:13.2) at the SoCon Indoor Championships…won the 1,500m with a time of 3:46.8 at the Beynon Catamount Outdoor Classic…placed sixth in the 800m (1:54.0) and second in the 1,500m (3:48.9) at the league outdoor meet…named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
High School: Â Was the state runner up for cross country as a senior...won the state championship in the 1,600m his junior and senior seasons...set a state record with a time of 4:07.12 in the 1,600m...anchored his 4x800m team to a state championship as a sophomore and junior and won the 800m state championship his junior season.
Personal:Â Â Ryan Edward Adams was born on July 25, 1996, in Hudson, Ohio....son of Steve and Angie Adams...brother, Brad, ran track at Indiana State University...plans to study education.
