Furman women’s basketball coach Jackie Carson has named Tim Gibson director of operations for the Paladin hoops program on July 9, 2014.
Prior to coming to Furman, Gibson served as a graduate assistant operations director for the University of Louisiana-Monroe women’s basketball program for two seasons while studying for a master’s degree in sports, fitness, and recreation management.
In the summer of 2013 he served as an event management intern with the Amateur Softball Association/USA Softball in Oklahoma City, Okla., assisting with on-site aspects of the NCAA Women’s College World Series and World Cup of Softball. In addition he worked as the assistant tournament director of all ASA/USA Hall of Fame Junior Olympic Tournaments and the National Senior Softball Championships in Cleveland, Ohio.
Gibson earned an associate degree in social science in 2008 from Carl Albert State College at Poteau, Okla., and later secured a bachelor of science degree in physical education from Oklahoma State in December of 2010. While at Oklahoma State he served as student manager for the Cowboys’ softball program for two seasons.
A native of Le Flore, Oklahoma, he spent the 2011-12 school year at South Haven (Kansas) High School as head women’s basketball coach, directing his squad to a South Central Border League Championship and state runner-up finish.
