Ashley Sloup is in her first season as the Furman women's golf assistant coach.
"I am very excited to have Ashley join our staff," said Paladin head coach Jeff Hull at the time of Sloup's hiring. "She has a tremendous positive energy and a true passion to coach. She was a very talented player at Winthrop, winning the Carolinas Amateur, and proved to be a successful coach in her short time at Northwood. I feel she can help us achieve our goals while serving as a great role model for our players."
Sloup comes to Furman from Northwood University in Midland, Mich, where she has served as an assistant coach with the Timberwolves' program.
Sloup was a four-year letter winner at Winthrop. A three-time All-Big South honoree, she claimed Big South Women's Golfer of the Week accolades five times during her career. She concluded her senior season with a 75.0 scoring average and was named to the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team as a sophomore, junior, and senior.
"This is a fabulous opportunity to join the Paladins and help build upon the strong foundation this program has established," said Sloup. "The Furman team is full of talent every year. I am very thankful to
Jeff Hull and all of the Furman community for giving me this chance to help him lead a powerful program. I am really excited for the future and to be a part of it every step of the way."
A native of Southport, N.C., Sloup earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications with a minor in human resource management from Winthrop in 2018.
