Grant Esposito is in his second season as an assistant coach with the Furman women's tennis program.
In his first season with the Paladins, Furman concluded the 2024 season with a 6-1 Southern Conference record and advanced to the finals of the league championships for the seventh-consecutive time. Sara Snyder was selected to the All-SoCon first team for singles, while Ellie Schulson and Macy Hitchcock were named to the first team for doubles. Grace Thomas was honored with an All-SoCon second team citation at flight four singles, and Marissa Pennings was voted to the second team at flight six singles. In doubles, Furman's Jess Dawson, Snyder, and Thomas earned second-team honors. Eight Paladins claimed ITA Scholar-Athlete citations for the 2023-24 season, and Furman was honored as an ITA All-Academic Team.
A native of Union City, Ohio, Esposito came to Furman after serving as a volunteer assistant for the Georgia women's team during the 2022-23 season. The Bulldogs, who reached the Final Four of the NCAA Championship, won the 2023 SEC Championship and finished as runner-up in the ITA National Indoor Championship. Â
Prior to his time at Georgia, Esposito was a volunteer assistant with the Mississippi State men's team, where he provided on-court coaching during collegiate matches and coached individuals at professional tournaments. In 2022, the Bulldogs made an appearance in the NCAA team championship. Â
Esposito, who has private coaching experience at the Beck Tennis Academy in Watkinsville, Ga., and at the Esposito Tennis Academy, was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Indiana Wesleyan, after graduation. During his season as an assistant, Esposito helped guide the Wildcats to a 31-4 overall record and a perfect Crossroads League mark. In addition to claiming the 2021 Crossroads League regular season and tournament championships, Indiana Wesleyan reached the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships and attained a No. 8 national ranking.
As a collegiate player, Esposito was a three-time All-Crossroads League selection at Indiana Wesleyan. He was ranked ninth nationally in doubles by the ITA and was selected as an honorable mention NAIA All-American in 2019. Esposito won the NAIA ITA Midwest Regional doubles championship and received the 2019 ITA Regional and National Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award.
A 2020 graduate of Indiana Wesleyan, Esposito graduated magna cum laude with a degree in sports management and was a two-time ITA Scholar Athlete.Â
Esposito and his wife, the former Gracie Bryant, and have one son, Joey.Â
