Furman University

Isabelle Boulais

Isabelle Boulais is in her first season as Furman's women's tennis assistant coach.

"Isabelle is a fantastic player with experience in the collegiate, professional, and coaching realm," said head coach Michelle Dasso at the time of Boulais' hiring.  "She is deeply committed to helping players develop mental resilience and confidence through sport and will no doubt make a positive impact on our Paladin program."

A native of Oakville, Ontario, Boulais has most recently served as a coach at the Ontario Racquet Club, where she instructed junior elite and national-level athletes in both private and group settings.  She designed individual player development plans focusing on technique, mental performance, and tactics, plus guided older junior players through the college recruiting process.  As the Ontario Racquet Club's social media manager, Boulais also created content for the facility's social media platforms.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Furman family this fall and so grateful to Coach Dasso and the entire Furman staff for this amazing opportunity," said Boulais.  "Furman has a long-standing tradition of developing not only outstanding competitors but also exceptional people off the court, and I'm excited to contribute to a program that values excellence, character, and growth.

"As a former college player, I'm especially looking forward to returning to the collegiate tennis environment and experiencing it now from a coach's perspective," continued Boulais.  "I'm also incredibly thankful to my family and friends for their constant support during this transition from player to coach.  I'm excited for what's ahead and ready to build something special here in Greenville!"

A three-time All-Big Ten selection at Ohio State, Boulais was voted the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and the ITA Midwest Region Rookie of the Year in 2019.  While playing in the top flights, she was a two-time NCAA singles and doubles qualifier and ranked as high as 19th nationally in singles and 12th in doubles during her Buckeye career.  Boulais helped lead Ohio State to the 2021 Big Ten tournament championship and secured notable wins over Wake Forest, Michigan, Arizona State, and Purdue.

Boulais competed internationally on the ITF and WTA professional tours from 2014 through 2025.  A five-time Canadian national champion with titles in both singles and doubles in the U16 and U18 divisions, she was a member of the Junior Billie Jean King Cup Team for Canada then clinched an ITF doubles title in Colombo in 2017 and reached the Saguenay semifinal in 2016.  Boulais achieved WTA career-high rankings of 571st in singles and 515th in doubles with victories over top-250 ranked players.

Boulais earned a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in innovative approaches to health and wellness from Ohio State in 2022.  She was honored as an OSU Scholar-Athlete in 2019 and earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades in 2019 and 2020.
