Georgie Walker Career Records
Junior Year (2019-20): Walker went 8-7 in singles and 11-4 in doubles during the shortened 2020 season. She recorded a 6-1, 7-6(9-7) win over Georgia Tech at flight five singles and came from behind for an 0-6, 6-3, 7-6(7-3) victory at flight two against Lipscomb. At Louisville, Walker held on for a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3) advantage, and she won at Marshall in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, both at flight four. In her lone SoCon match, she defeated Chattanooga, 6-0, 6-1, at flight four. Walker teamed primarily with MaryAnn Rompf in doubles. The Paladin duo scored key victories over Michigan State, Louisville, Middle Tennessee State, and Marshall. In SoCon play, Walker and Rompf handed Chattanooga a 6-3 loss at flight two. Walker was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, and the ITA All-Academic Team.
Sophomore Year (2018-19): Walker was chosen to the All-Southern Conference second team at flight six singles and at flight three doubles. She tallied a 13-5 overall singles record and perfect 7-0 SoCon mark, playing primarily at flight six. Walker picked up early season victories over Charleston Southern, USC Upstate, and Marshall, then won ten of 12 matches beginning Feb. 28 and extending through the end of the season. She held off Valparaiso, 6-4, 6-4, at flight two and picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win at flight four versus Brenau. In the heart of the conference season, Walker downed Wofford, 7-5, 6-1 and Samford, 6-4, 6-4. In doubles, Walker notched an 11-1 overall mark and a 5-0 record versus SoCon competition. She teamed with Carol Elizabeth Kerman to go 7-1 at flight three to conclude the season. Walker and Kerman held off ETSU, 6-4, in the finals of the SoCon Championships. The Paladin duo, which has combined for a .942 winning percentage over the past two seasons, ranks second in the Furman career records for doubles winning percentage. Walker was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, and the ITA All-Academic Team.
Freshman Year (2017-18): Walker, who notched a 14-9 overall singles record and 15-2 doubles mark, was selected to the All-Southern Conference second team at flight three doubles. She tallied non-conference victories over DePaul, Charlotte, Winthrop, Emmanuel, and USC Upstate in February, and concluded the season with straight sets wins against Chattanooga and ETSU at the SoCon Championships. Walker was a perfect 6-0 in SoCon doubles matches. She teamed with Carol Elizabeth Kerman for eight-straight victories beginning with a 6-2 advantage at Louisville then partnered with Danni Vines and Katty Weymouth to extend the streak to 14 matches to conclude the season. Walker was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, and the ITA All-Academic Team.
Prep/Personal: Walker, who earned a career-high singles ranking of second among the 16U players in Great Britain, competed in the Junior Wimbledon qualifiers. A two-time singles finalist among the 18U division in 2016, she was the summer national tour doubles champion and was a semi-finalist in the 18U level of the national tour finals masters in 2016. Walker was honored with the 2015 Laing award from Hertfordshire tennis, which honors the junior player who made the greatest contribution to the county tennis teams. She represented Queenswood School at flight one, helping the team defend its 2015 national title and become National Schools Champion in 2016. Walker played at flight one for Queenswood School, representing England at the ISF World Schools Tennis Championships in Brazil in 2017, where her team won bronze. Georgie Walker was born on January 25, 1999, in London, England. She is the daughter of Kim and Fiona Walker. Her grandfather, Robert Walker, played golf for Scotland, and her aunt, Alexandra Townend, played lacrosse for the North of England. Her sister, Emily Walker, plays lacrosse for the South East of England. Walker is majoring in French.
