Harper Caswell Career Records

Freshman Year (2014-15): Caswell was chosen team MVP and was named to the All-Southern Conference second team at flight five singles and earned a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman Team after posting an 8-12 overall singles record and 4-1 league singles mark.  She put together a five-match winning stream beginning at Winthrop on March 22, which lasted through the Paladins’ April 2 win at Mercer.  Caswell scored straight-sets victories over USC Upstate, UNC Asheville, South Florida, and Winthrop in non-conference play, then tallied two-set victories versus Samford, Chattanooga, and Western Carolina in league play.  In doubles action, she teamed primarily with Karlee Bryde at flight three, picking up regular season SoCon wins over Samford and Mercer, and defeating UNCG, 8-6, in the opening round of the Southern Conference Tournament. 

Prep/Personal:  Harper Caswell, a three-star recruit who ranks eighth in the state of Tennessee on tennisrecruiting.net,was honored as a four-time Chattanooga Times Free Press Best of Preps first-team selection.  She was named to the DecoTurf all-tournament team for singles in 2013 and 2014 and for doubles in 2012 and 2013.  Caswell helped her Baylor team to four-consecutive state and rotary championships and three-straight DecoTurf national championships.  During her four years on the team, the Raiders lost only one match, the 2014 DecoTurf national championship final.  Caswell is a member of the National Honor Society and was voted Best Female Student Athlete in her graduating class.  Harper Hannah Caswell was born on July 7, 1995, to Ned and Wendy Caswell, in Greenville, S.C.  Her father, Ned, was a member of the Furman tennis team and basketball team from 1983-87.  A 1992 Furman Athletics Hall of Fame selection, he was honored as a tennis All-American in both 1986 and 1987 and led the Paladin basketball team in assists from 1985 through 1986.  Her mother, Wendy, and her maternal grandparents, Bobby and Dixie Pinson, also attended Furman.  The Pinson Cup, which is given annually to the winner of the Furman/Wofford women’s tennis match, is named in honor of Caswell’s grandparents.
