Junior Year (2009-10): Betts posted a 14-8 overall singles record and a 7-3 Southern Conference mark, playing primarily in the number six spot. She recorded a win at number four singles versus Presbyterian and at number five singles against UNC Asheville. Betts then notched a win at number six singles at Wake Forest. She put together a six-match winning streak mid-season at number six singles. Betts teamed with Jessica Preeg for a perfect 6-0 record in conference matches at number two doubles.
Sophomore Year (2008-09): Betts was named to the All-Southern Conference second team after posting a 7-1 league record in the number six singles position. She recorded a 10-12 overall singles record and a 13-11 doubles record. Betts teamed with Lauren Tomory for a 8-2 SoCon record at number two doubles.
Freshman Year (2007-08): Betts compiled a 2-1 singles record and 2-0 doubles record during her first year as a Paladin. She went undefeated in conference play, with a singles win over Emily Turke from Western Carolina and two doubles wins over opponents from Chattanooga and Wofford.
Prep/Personal: Jennifer Betts competed under coach Will Larkey at Newnan High School in Georgia. In 2005, she led her team to a state championship, while also earning the individual 2A state championship. Betts was voted MVP of her high school team as a freshman, sophomore, and junior, and earned the coach’s award as a senior. She led her team to a second-place finish in the region in 2006 and 2007 as well as a final four appearance in the state tournament in 2006. Jennifer Marie Betts is the daughter of Philip and Vickie Betts and was born on December 19, 1988 in Boca Raton, Fla. Her father, Philip competed in collegiate swimming at Auburn University. Betts plans to major in Business at Furman.
