Biography

Junior Year (2011-12):  Kline was named to the All Southern Conference second team for singles after notching an 8-14 overall record and 5-4 conference mark at number one singles.  In nonconference play, Kline posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Miami (OH) and a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Boston University, in addition to a 6-2, 6-0 win against East Carolina.  She opened the SoCon season with three consecutive wins, downing Georgia Southern, Appalachian State, and Samford, all in straight-sets.  Kline recorded a 6-1, 6-3 win at Wofford mid-season and ended the SoCon regular season with a 6-2, 6-2 victory versus Davidson.  In doubles, Kline posted an 11-11 overall record and 5-5 conference mark, playing primarily at in the top spot.  She teamed with Margaret Boyette for an 8-1 win over #72 Florida International early in the season, then the duo of Kline and Alex Moreno-Kaste notched an 8-4 win at #67 Harvard.  Kline was named to the ITA All-Academic Team and the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll. 

Sophomore Year (2010-11):  Kline recorded a 13-11 overall singles record and 7-3 SoCon mark, playing at number two and number three singles.  She tallied a 5-1 SoCon record in the number two singles spot, notching wins over Wofford, Chattanooga, Appalachian State, Western Carolina, and Davidson.  Kline also recorded a 6-3, 6-3 win at number three singles against #35 SMU.  She ended the season with a five-match win streak, going 3-0 at number three singles with wins over Elon, UNC Greensboro, and College of Charleston in the Southern Conference tournament.  Kline posted a 7-15 overall doubles record and a 4-5 league record in doubles matches and teamed with Margaret Boyette for an 8-6 win at number one doubles against #66 Winthrop.  She and teammate Amanda Murray defeated Appalachian State and Davidson in the top doubles match.  Kline was named to the ITA All-Academic Team, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, and the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.

Freshman Year (2009-10): Kline registered significant playing time as a freshman for the Paladins and was honored as a member of the Southern Conference All-Freshman team. She combined with Monica Arguello for second-team All-Southern Conference honors at number one doubles after posting a 5-2 league mark in the top doubles spot.  She recorded a 16-8 overall record in singles, including a 15-7 mark in the number two singles position.  Against SoCon competition, Kline posted an 8-2 mark at number two singles.  Kline posted a win against Presbyterian at number one singles against versus Georgia State at number two singles.  She notched a win in the number two singles spot against College of Charleston during the teams’ regular season match.  She also teamed with Jessica Preeg for a 2-1 league record at number one doubles.  Kline was a member of the ITA All-Academic team and the SoCon Academic Honor Roll.

Prep/Personal: Lauren Kline played at North Oldham High for coach Todd Arteburn, where she was named the Kentucky High School Athlete of the Year for 2009.  Kline won two state individual championships and led her prep team to six consecutive region titles.  Lauren Paula Kline was born on December 1, 1990, in Louisville, Ky.  Both of her parents, Larry and Sue Kline, played tennis at the University of Kentucky.  Kline’s family was chosen the USTA Family of the Year in 2008.  Lauren is undecided on her major.
