Biography
Junior Year (2023-24): Pennings was chosen to the All-SoCon second team at flight six singles after posting a 5-1 league mark, including a 5-0 record at flight six. She closed out the regular season with a 7-6(4), 3-6, 6-2 victory at No. 64 ETSU and came from behind to defeat Mercer, 5-7, 6-2, 1-0(10-1). In the SoCon tournament, Pennings moved to flight five, where she defeated Western Carolina, 6-1, 6-1, and Samford, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6(5). She recorded key nonconference victories over Louisville (6-2, 2-6, 1-0(12-10), Liberty, and Quinnipiac. Pennings was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, and the CSC Academic All-District Team and was honored as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
Sophomore Year (2022-23): Pennings joined the Paladins team as a sophomore, recording an 8-13 overall singles record in the top half of the lineup, which included conference victories over UNCG, Western Carolina, and ETSU. She notched a crucial 6-2, 6-4 flight two victory over ETSU in the final match of the regular season to help the Paladins clinch the Southern Conference regular season championship. Pennings defeated Liberty, 5-7, 6-2, 6-0, at flight two singles in a key nonconference match-up, and beat Yale, 6-3, 6-2, also at flight two. In doubles, she teamed with Ellie Schulson for a 9-11 overall mark and 4-3 conference record, playing primarily at flight two. The Paladin duo defeated Yale twice and beat Mercer, 7-6(5), in the semifinals of the SoCon tournament. Pennings was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll and the ITA All-Academic Team.
Freshman Year (2021-22): Pennings competed at Campbell, where she was voted the 2022 Big South Freshman of the Year. She posted a 16-5 overall singles record, playing primarily at flight two, and went undefeated at 8-0 in the Big South. In doubles action, Pennings was 8-8 and 3-2 in league play. She recorded key non-conference singles victories versus Georgetown (6-0, 4-6, 6-1), UNC Wilmington (7-6, 7-6), Elon (6-0, 7-6), Coastal Carolina (7-6, 3-6, 6-3), and Richmond (6-1, 6-2).
Prep/Personal: Pennings ranked as high as ninth in Florida and 51st nationally. She is majoring in economics.
