Mary Hunter Hyche Career Stats
Sophomore Year (2019-20): Hyche tallied a 3-0 singles record and 1-0 doubles mark during the shortened 2020 season. She defeated USC Upstate, 6-1, 6-2, and Lipscomb, 6-3, 6-2, both at flight six, and moved to flight five for a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Emmanuel. In doubles, Hyche teamed with Maggie Pate to defeat Emmanuel, 6-1, at flight three. She was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the SoCon Academic All-Conference Team, and the ITA All-Academic Team.
Freshman Year (2018-19): Hyche notched a 3-0 singles record, playing in the bottom half of the lineup. She defeated Emmanuel, 6-1, 6-1, at flight six then moved to flight four to beat Valparaiso, 6-2, 6-2. At flight five, Hyche posted a 6-2, 6-4 advantage over Brenau. In doubles, she teamed with Eva Borders to down Brenau, 7-5. Hyche was named to the Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
Prep/Personal: Hyche, a three-star recruit by www.tennisrecruiting.net, was the sixth-ranked player in South Carolina and ranked 74th in the Southeast. As a freshman, she played flight one singles and was honored as the South Carolina Class A Player of the Year. An All-State selection, she led her team to the state finals in 2014. She attended Christ Church Episcopal School, where she was the editor of the yearbook and a member of the National Spanish Honor Society. Hyche also volunteered at the Triune Mercy Center. Mary Hunter Hyche was born on February 22, 2000, in Greenville, S.C. She is the daughter of Meg and Tod Hyche. Her father also attended Furman. Hyche is majoring in health science and studying pre-medicine.
